2018 brought us more of that strange mixture of hope and fear which characterises our times. Fear, because in some ways our world seems less stable, exemplified in new trade war barriers, rising populism, unrest in the streets, the ongoing drama of Brexit… hope in that that we see prosperity still rising globally, and with it a promising future for our industry, all in the context of the exciting opportunities unwrapped by the forward march of technology.
It has been an intense year for Cosmetics Europe and our industry generally, and in the EU one where we have been frequently (and positively) engaged with stakeholders in a number of areas. We aim in 2019 to continue to press the case for our key principles – evidence-based policy making, proportionate regulation, freer and easier trade, and the value and importance of cosmetic products in the lives of our fellow citizens.
So, let’s stress hope rather than fear, and that in mind I wish you a very happy holiday season and New Year. And as no Christmas is complete without a Christmas story, read A cosmetics Christmas tale on the Essentials for Daily Life blog.
